On October 12, 2016 at approximately 11:15 p.m., patrol officers from the LVMPD’s Downtown Area Command located a vehicle believed to be involved in a multi-jurisdictional armed robbery series. Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle in the area of Wyoming Avenue and Commerce Street. The suspect vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated.
The suspect led officers on a pursuit that went into the city of North Las Vegas and then terminated on the North 215 beltway between Hualapai Way and North Fort Apache Road. Officers were confronted by the suspect, described as a white male adult who was armed with a handgun. Officers fired, striking the suspect who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This is the 7th officer involved shooting of 2016. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
Captain Shawn Anderson of the LVMPD’ Office of Internal Oversight provided a brief statement regarding this incident.
