These preludes, in G minor, G sharp minor, and A minor, are the last three movements of my second set of piano preludes (in all the minor keys) which is nearly complete, and is to be published in Autumn/Winter 2019. I was writing the middle one of the three when I heard of the sudden death of a friend, Kieran Sampson, and so I dedicated it to his memory. Then I realised that the two surrounding movements nicely portrayed his quirky character, and so I played all three of them at a memorial concert for Kieran at the 2019 Maldon Festival.
